The Gambia, general and travel information

The Gambia is situated on either side of the Gambia River, which empties into the Atlantic Ocean.
Its area is app. 11,000 square kilometres, its length is app. 300 km with its highest point at 40 metres.
The Gambia has a population of app. 2.000.000. The capital of The Gambia is Banjul, the largest cities are Serekunda and Brikama.
Most Gambian people are poor but friendly and helpful. Many people can speak (some) English. Some people do not like being photographed, so it is advised to ask before you take a picture.
